Dear Friends: You might have read the article in the St. Joseph News Press Yesterday concerning the new Paradise Grill located in the Panera Bread/United Missouri Bank Plaza on the North Belt Highway. While it talked about gyros, it failed to mention that you can also get falafel, hummus and stuffed grape leaves, all vegetarian staples that until now have virtually been unavailable in St. Joseph.
So, check it out. The food is delicious and the owner , "Shuk" is a delightful young man who came down here recently from Omaha. He is originally from Uzbekistan (sp?), a republic of the former Soviet Union.
A second place to get healthy fast food is Cafe Pony Espresso located in downtown St. Joseph. Owner Nancy Goode has introduced a quinoa salad that features black beans, sweet red peppers, corn and olive oil. Take it from me. It is delicious and satisfying.
Fast food doesn't have to be unhealthy. It can be quick, delicious and nutritious. Let us know how you like these new additions to the St. Joseph fast food scene!
Healtfully Yours, James Fly, H.C.
